Takes One to Tango

To tango is to couple together for a dramatic and intimate dance with stealthy, cat-like movements. When dancers join their hands together and inch their bodies close to each other, a rich connection is woven between them. It takes trust and strength to allow yourself to be vulnerable with a person you may not know. Captured are the moments two people become one with each other, like two flames merging together to form a single blaze. The images were taken at Glen Echo Park in Glen Echo, Maryland where tango instructor, René Davila, starts off the nights with tango lessons and follows with social dancing. I wish to offer insight into the intricacies of tango and inspire others to learn this dance form, its music and history.
